IBM 00WK780 and 00WK781 2TB SAS Drive Label Guide

One photographed IBM System Storage label carries an IBM part number, FRU, label part number and a Seagate base-drive model. These identifiers should remain together because they do not describe interchangeable procurement fields.

Evidence scope

Selected first-party images document representative OEM and manufacturer labels. Final model, part number, availability, condition, health evidence, firmware, sector format, carrier, platform compatibility, warranty, packing and quotation remain order-specific.

Service-part hierarchy

IBM and base-drive identifiers

Preserve the service identity and the underlying drive identity on the same RFQ line.

The table separates photographed label fields from procurement checks. It does not confirm current stock, quoted-unit condition, health, firmware, sector format, compatibility or warranty.

01

Copy all IBM service identifiers

The photographed label shows IBM P/N 00WK781, IBM FRU 00WK780 and IBM Label P/N 00WK896. Record each field exactly. A buyer searching by FRU may still need the order line to preserve the P/N, label identity, carrier and target system for service matching.

  • IBM P/N 00WK781
  • IBM FRU 00WK780
  • IBM Label P/N 00WK896
  • Carrier included or excluded

02

Retain the Seagate base-drive model

The same label identifies Seagate ST2000NX0263. Seagate documentation lists this exact 2TB 2.5-inch SAS model separately from other sector-format suffixes. Keep ST2000NX0263 on the RFQ instead of reducing the request to IBM 2TB SAS or assuming another ST2000NX model is equivalent.

  • ST2000NX0263
  • 2TB 2.5-inch form
  • SAS 12 Gb/s
  • 7,200 RPM label context

03

Do not lose the 4Kn requirement

Seagate's product manual identifies ST2000NX0263 as a 4096-native model, while neighboring 2TB suffixes cover other host-visible formats. Confirm that the IBM platform, controller, array and operating environment accept the required format before approving a replacement or rebuild candidate.

  • 4096-native model context
  • Controller format support
  • Existing array members
  • Migration or rebuild plan

04

Match firmware and carrier context

An IBM service part may include firmware and carrier expectations beyond the base manufacturer's model. Capture the installed firmware, system machine type or model, controller firmware, bay and carrier. Do not treat a bare ST2000NX0263 as an IBM service replacement unless the quote states the difference and the buyer approves it.

  • IBM system model
  • Installed and required firmware
  • Controller and bay
  • IBM carrier requirement

05

Build the IBM replacement RFQ

Send the failed or installed label, requested IBM P/N and FRU, base-drive model, quantity, platform, controller, sector format, target condition, destination and requested evidence. Final availability, condition, test scope, packing and quotation are confirmed per order.

  • Installed label photo
  • P/N, FRU and base model
  • Platform and sector format
  • Quantity, condition and destination

First-party evidence

Practical proof behind the guide

These first-party images document representative product, inspection, packing, shipping, tracking or policy evidence, as applicable to this guide. Final order evidence is confirmed separately.
